We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Specialist to join our team at the Government of Northwest Territories. As a key member of our public health team, you will play a critical role in reducing the impact of communicable diseases on our regional population.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert guidance and direction to frontline healthcare professionals on communicable disease policies, procedures, and best practices, ensuring compliance with Northwest Territories legislation and approved standards.
- Coordinate communicable disease management, including surveillance, control, treatment, education, and prevention programming for all communicable diseases in the territory.
- Develop and maintain relationships with regional public health service programs, community health centers, and other stakeholders to ensure continuity of care and effective communication.
- Collaborate with the Chief Public Health Officer to appoint Public Health Officers as needed, ensuring the effective implementation of public health policies and procedures.
- Provide consultative services to regional public health service programs and community health centers, ensuring the transition of care for services to NWT residents outside of the territory.
- A Baccalaureate in Nursing, plus five (5) years of recent experience in a clinical healthcare setting, with four (4) years of experience in Public Health or Community Health.
- Eligibility for registration with the College and Association of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANNN).
