About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team at The Grand Canal Retirement Residence. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to our residents, focusing on geriatric and palliative care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Direct Patient Care: Administer medications, conduct specimen collection, and ensure infection control to maintain a safe and healthy environment for our residents.
  • Assess and Plan Care: Conduct thorough assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and monitor patients' progress to ensure effective care delivery.
  • Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Work closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and support to our residents.
  • Document Patient Information: Accurately record patient data, including medication administration, vital signs, and treatment plans, to maintain up-to-date records.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement: Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, such as identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient care.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: Eligible for licensure as a practical nurse by the province/territory of work, completion of the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination, and possession of Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate, CPR Certificate, and First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience and Skills: Previous experience in geriatric and palliative care, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Security and Safety: Ability to maintain confidentiality, handle sensitive information, and adhere to security protocols.
