To qualify, applicants must possess:

  • A Master's degree in a relevant discipline OR a Master of Law degree OR active membership in a provincial or territorial law society OR a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field combined with a Bachelor of Law or Juris Doctor degree
  • Proven experience in researching and analyzing matters related to one or more federal public policy sectors, as outlined in the overview document

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of or experience in implementing Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA Plus)
  • Experience in creating visual representations, including statistical graphs, that are informative and enhance understanding
  • Background in handling datasets and quantitative research methodologies
  • Awareness of issues impacting Indigenous communities in Canada OR knowledge of Indigenous legal frameworks in Canada OR experience collaborating with Indigenous communities in Canada.

Candidates selected in this evaluation process will be assessed through the following methods:

  • Cover letter: In your submission, detail how you meet each of the educational and experiential criteria of the position within 1,200 words in English or 1,350 words in French. When crafting your cover letter, be aware that your research, communication, and attention to detail skills will be evaluated, and will influence decisions regarding your progression in the selection process.
  • Second language assessment: A minimum result of CBC/CBC levels in your second official language is required.
  • Interview and examination: An interview and a pre-interview written assessment will include behavioral, situational, and knowledge-based inquiries that will enable the interviewers to evaluate a range of competencies.
  • For the purposes of this selection process, three distinct competency profiles are listed (RAN-01, RAN-02, or RAN-03).
  • Please note that candidates must successfully complete each stage to advance to the subsequent stage of the selection process.
