About the Role

Pinecrest Remembrance Services Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Groundskeeping Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our grounds maintenance team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our outdoor spaces, ensuring they are well-maintained and visually appealing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Hire, Train, and Supervise Staff: Lead a team of grounds maintenance staff, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties effectively.
  • Plan and Direct Grounds Maintenance: Develop and implement comprehensive grounds maintenance plans, ensuring our outdoor spaces are well-manicured and meet the highest standards.
  • Plan and Estimate Labour and Materials: Conduct thorough assessments of our grounds maintenance needs, estimating the resources required to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Organize and Direct Construction Projects: Oversee the construction of decks, decorative walls, and other landscape features, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Maintain Work Records and Logs: Accurately record and maintain detailed logs of all grounds maintenance activities, including staff hours, materials used, and equipment maintenance.
  • Repair and Maintain Equipment: Ensure all grounds maintenance equipment is in good working order, performing regular maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Requisition or Order Materials and Supplies: Procure all necessary materials and supplies for grounds maintenance activities, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: 5 years or more in a grounds maintenance or related role
  • Work Site Environment: Outdoor work environment, with regular exposure to varying weather conditions
  • Work Setting: Relocation costs covered by employer
  • Supervision: 5-10 people
  • Equipment and Machinery Experience: Proficient in the use of backhoes, chain saws, small engine equipment, tractors, and tractor mowers
  • Area of Specialization: Grounds maintenance and landscape construction
  • Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver's license
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, physically demanding, combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling
