About this Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Safety Specialist to join our team at Cenovus. As a key member of our Process Safety Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe operation of our facilities and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert interpretation, analysis, and guidance in process safety and technical safety engineering.
  • Develop and implement process safety strategies to prevent loss of containment during all operational phases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate perspectives and optimize hazard identification and risk control solutions.
  • Improve process safety awareness by sharing best practices and simple, actionable solutions.
  • Leverage operations knowledge to identify weak signals through data from management of change processes, control of work procedures, process upsets, and incidents.
  • Offer technical expertise in barrier management to prevent unplanned and uncontrolled releases.
  • Guide and lead change efforts to implement process safety standards, including regulatory requirements and external provider guidelines.
  • Participate in or lead investigations of significant process safety events, offering recommendations and communicating insights through technical reports and presentations.
Requirements
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered for practice in Alberta is required.
  • 8+ years of operational experience with demonstrated process safety, hazard identification, and risk assessment skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confirmed ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
