Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

TWD is a consulting firm specializing in engineering, procurement, and construction management, dedicated to delivering project development and execution services tailored for the oil and gas sector. TWD is currently in search of a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to provide support for our client. This role may involve a schedule of 4 days on and 3 days off, with 10-hour workdays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and/or assist in the execution of maintenance engineering tasks aligned with industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with maintenance execution teams, turnaround planning, operations, and cross-functional teams including process engineers and machinery specialists to complete engineering assignments.
  • Prepare and/or review technical documentation, ensuring accuracy and identifying potential issues and opportunities.
  • Develop work scopes to ensure the reliable operation and maintenance of site systems and equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations regarding static equipment, operations, and maintenance.
  • Participate in audits and investigations, acting on the recommendations provided.
  • Lead and/or assist in troubleshooting efforts, developing effective solutions.
  • Foster and engage in a safety-oriented culture related to engineering tasks.
  • Manage the Management of Change (MOC) process and address deliverables accordingly.
  • Comply with training requirements, contractor safety qualifications, and safe work practices.
  • Ensure timely reporting and investigation of incidents, with follow-up actions completed promptly.
  • Additional duties may be assigned based on business unit needs.
  • Conduct field walkdowns and collaborate with maintenance and operations personnel to formulate repair strategies.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical or mechatronics engineering, registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA, or meeting the APEGA Inter-Provincial Mobility program requirements.
  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry or a comparable field.
  • Technical knowledge of applicable industry codes, including API 510, 570, 574, 653, ASME B16 series, ASME B31.3, ASME PCC-1/PCC-2, and CSA Z662.
  • Proven understanding and ability to apply relevant Acts, Regulations, and Codes.
  • Familiarity with reliability tools such as Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and/or Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Capability to perform effectively in a dynamic work environment.
  • Willingness to visit plant areas as required and adhere to HSE requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A desire to seek feedback for enhancing the quality of deliverables and developing expertise.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and cloud-based business applications.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, drawing revision processes, and knowledge of SAP.
  • Ability to work autonomously while also being a collaborative team member.
  • Demonstrates initiative and drives effective, timely results.
  • Familiarity with SAP and Maintenance & Reliability workflows.
  • A valid Alberta Class 5 or equivalent driver's license.
