Position: ANALYST II – SEMI-VOLATILES SECTION

We are currently in search of an Analyst II for the Semi-Volatiles section within the Organic Department. The successful candidate will oversee all facets of sample preparation and analysis for PAH testing. Responsibilities will encompass sample extraction, preparation of standards and reagents, instrument upkeep, calibration, analysis, and troubleshooting, along with reporting test outcomes and executing any development tasks as directed by the Manager/Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct chemical analyses utilizing a variety of laboratory instruments.
  • Prepare samples for advanced analytical testing procedures.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures meticulously.
  • Prepare solutions, reagents, and samples for intricate analyses.
  • Ensure that analytical documentation (raw data, sample preparation logs, QC data) is accurately labeled, completed, and archived.
  • Operate and maintain instruments such as mass spectrometers and gas chromatographs, ensuring accurate maintenance and daily operating records.
  • Comprehend project requirements thoroughly before commencing work, including sample quantity, type, identification, method, analysis procedure, QA/QC standards, and deadlines.
  • Meet quality and turnaround time expectations set by clients, ensuring samples are analyzed within required holding times.
  • Provide updates to supervisors regarding workstation status, including timely notifications of any potential delays.
  • Maintain control charts in accordance with QA manual requirements, monitor for compliance, and develop corrective action plans for review with the Supervisor.
  • May oversee the work of Analyst I and Lab Technician staff.
  • Availability for overtime and weekend work may be necessary.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Technical diploma in a relevant field required; degree preferred.
  • Background in Analytical Chemistry.
  • Experience with GC/MS is preferred.
  • Familiarity with standard operating procedures and instrumental techniques.
  • Strong analytical laboratory skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • Proficient in multitasking.
  • Capable of working independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure to meet demanding deadlines.
