We are in search of an Analyst II for the Semi-Volatiles section within the Organic Department. The successful candidate will oversee all facets of sample preparation and analysis for PAH testing. Responsibilities will encompass sample extraction, preparation of standards and reagents, instrument upkeep, calibration, analysis, and troubleshooting, along with reporting test outcomes and undertaking any development tasks as directed by the Manager/Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct chemical analyses utilizing various laboratory instruments.
- Prepare samples for advanced analytical testing procedures.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and ensure compliance with established protocols.
- Prepare solutions, reagents, and samples for intricate analyses.
- Maintain accurate analytical records, including raw data, sample preparation logs, and quality control data.
- Operate and maintain instruments such as mass spectrometers and gas chromatographs, ensuring up-to-date maintenance and operational records.
- Comprehend project requirements thoroughly before initiation, including sample details, methods, QA/QC needs, and deadlines.
- Meet quality standards and turnaround time expectations set by clients, ensuring samples are analyzed within holding time constraints.
- Provide regular updates to supervisors regarding workstation status and notify them of any potential delays.
- Maintain control charts as per quality assurance manual requirements, monitor for compliance, and develop corrective action plans in consultation with the Supervisor.
- May oversee the work of Analyst I and Lab Technician staff.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Technical diploma in a relevant field.
- Background in Analytical Chemistry.
- Experience with GC/MS is preferred.
- Familiarity with standard operating procedures and instrumental techniques.
- Strong analytical laboratory skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- Proficient in multitasking.
- Capable of working independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Capacity to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
