Job Summary:

Bureau Veritas Group is seeking an experienced Analyst 1 to join our team in the Semi-volatiles section of the Organic Department. As an Analyst 1, you will be responsible for performing chemical analysis using various laboratory instrumentation, preparing samples for complex analytical testing procedures, and ensuring strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform chemical analysis using a variety of laboratory instrumentation, including mass spectrometers and gas chromatographs.
  • Prepare solutions, reagents, and samples for complex analyses.
  • Ensure analytical records are properly labelled, completed, and filed.
  • Operate instruments and maintain up-to-date maintenance and daily operating records.
  • Clearly understand project requirements, including sample identification, method to be used, and QA/QC requirements.
  • Meet quality and turnaround time specifications required by clients.
  • Provide supervisor with updates on workstation status and advance notification of any delays.
  • Maintain control charts and monitor for failure to meet tolerances.
  • May direct work of Lab Tech staff.
  • Overtime and weekend work will be required.

Requirements:

  • Technical diploma required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Analytical Chemistry experience.
  • GC experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures and instrumental techniques.
  • Good analytical laboratory skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good multi-tasking abilities.
  • Good independent worker.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet challenging deadlines.
