Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Research Operations, this role provides expert guidance and support to researchers throughout the research contract lifecycle. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the success of research projects by developing, negotiating, and managing complex agreements with diverse stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, negotiate, and review intricate multi-party research contracts with various sponsors. Analyze and interpret contract terms and conditions, resolving multifaceted issues promptly and effectively.
  • Provide in-depth advice and support to researchers and internal stakeholders involved in contract research activities.
  • Collaborate and negotiate with funding agencies, sponsors, and partners on complex agreements and contracts.
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with contract execution, providing recommendations to management to ensure compliance with university policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct research and provide insights to management on strategies to enhance the success of contract research and strengthen overall research activities.

Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five years of proven experience in a similar role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of research support opportunities and the academic landscape.
  • Knowledge of research methodologies and strategies.
  • Experience developing and managing research agreements and activities.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving and analysis.
  • Exceptional bilingual writing skills in English and French.
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience in developing and delivering workshops.
  • Familiarity with computer systems and applications such as Windows, word processing software, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, the internet, and email.
