Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Advisor, Research Contracts to join our team at the University of Ottawa. This is a key role that will provide advice and support to researchers in the development of research contracts and agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, negotiate, and review complex research contracts with diverse sponsors.
  • Provide expert advice and support to researchers and internal stakeholders in the development of contract research.
  • Collaborate and negotiate with funding agencies, sponsors, and partners on complex agreements and contracts.
  • Assess and mitigate risk exposure in making recommendations to management concerning the execution of contracts.
  • Undertake research and provide advice to management on mechanisms to improve the success of contract research and strengthen research activities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent knowledge of research support opportunities and academia.
  • Knowledge of research strategies and methodologies.
  • Experience developing and managing research agreements and activities.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, maintain, and build relationships and partnerships within the University and externally.
  • Experience in analysis and problem-solving.
  • Excellent bilingual writing skills.
  • Ability to handle competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience developing and delivering workshops.
  • Experience using computer systems and applications such as Windows, word processing software, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, the internet, and email.
  • Bilingualism – English and French (spoken and written).
