We are seeking a journeyman-level professional to join our team and perform skilled heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanic work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair pneumatic, electric, electronic, and pressure-operated building control systems
  • Repair, maintain, and install heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems on a variety of systems, including pneumatic, electrical, and electronic
  • Prepare for work projects by performing operational and safety risk assessments, arranging work schedules with user departments, and assembling supplies, tools, and equipment
  • Install and repair refrigeration systems, including fridges, freezers, coolers, and ice machines
  • Install motors, controls, and switches, and thread piping for gas and other fluids
  • Repair, maintain, calibrate, and adjust a variety of control systems, including electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and pressure-operated systems
  • Operate and program heating, ventilating, and air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, including Building Automation Computer Systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance on heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and control systems by replacing bearings and filters, checking fluid and refrigerant levels, and cleaning components
  • Perform air balancing tests using equipment such as velometers and static pressure equipment
  • Perform mechanical repairs on general and specialized equipment, including compressors, steam valves, supply and exhaust fans, pumps, and sterilizing equipment
  • Install, test, maintain, and repair gas lines specific to HVAC equipment in accordance with BC Gas Safety Code
  • Review work requests and consult with user departments regarding specifications and other project requirements; interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials and equipment required; calculate materials and labor in estimating cost of projects and make recommendations
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies, equipment, and tools, complete related reports and records, and recommend purchase of supplies and equipment
  • Assign work tasks to designated staff and provide related training and orientation
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements; immediately report unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or other appropriate personnel

Qualifications

  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic or equivalent trade
  • Class B level Gas Fitter's License with an electrical endorsement recognized by the Province of B.C.
  • Two years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
