Fraser Health is seeking a highly skilled Plant Operations Manager to oversee the daily operational management and maintenance of designated central steam and/or hot water heating production/distribution Utility Plants, including Mechanical Systems, for physical plant health sites.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish and implement department goals, objectives, and operational requirements consistent with the Organizations' strategic and operational objectives.
- Manage the operations, maintenance, and repair of assigned site(s) central steam and/or hot water heating production/distribution Utility Plants, including Mechanical Systems.
- Provide operational leadership, including maintenance oversight of emergency generators.
- Develop and implement annual operating and capital budgets for assigned site(s).
- Manage the recruitment, mentoring, and professional development of assigned staff and contract employees.
- Investigate work and/or staff performance issues and initiate disciplinary action as needed.
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a British Columbia or Inter-Provincial First or Second Class Certificate of competency as a Power Engineer or Mechanical Engineering Degree.
- Five to seven years' recent, related progressive supervisory and management experience in a large, complex unionized environment.
- Demonstrated leadership practices of the Fraser Health Leadership Framework of Clear, Caring, and Courageous.
- Professional/Technical Capabilities:
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to apply sound management skills in selecting, developing, and coaching staff.
- Ability to prepare reports and recommendations to multidisciplinary audiences.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Ability to use spreadsheet and word processing applications.
- Adaptable and flexible to meet changing priorities and resource constraints.
- Knowledge and experience with the operation of air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, and control systems, and human resources management.
