Position Summary:
  • The Senior Building Envelope Engineer will primarily engage in building envelope design, energy modeling, and analysis, working from our Burnaby office.
  • This position may involve elements of project delivery management, production of structural documentation, and construction oversight.
  • All work will be conducted in alignment with our Company's values and culture.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage building envelope restoration projects from initial investigation through to substantial completion.
  • Collaborate with technologists and other engineering team members to prepare engineering drawings and contract documents.
  • Review architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings.
  • Analyze investigative reports.
  • Conduct structural designs related to building envelope remediation.
  • Lead field reviews and engineering investigations (Envelope/Structural).
  • Manage energy modeling and energy audits for both new constructions and existing structures.
  • Draft project-related correspondence as necessary.
  • Engage in client meetings and provide updates on project status.
  • Establish high technical standards and mentor junior staff to achieve their full potential, ensuring the delivery of high-quality work.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural/Building Science or equivalent training.
  • An active P.Eng. designation from EGBC with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Building Envelope Consulting.
  • Experience in preparing tender packages, managing construction contracts, and conducting building envelope condition assessments.
  • Familiarity with BC Building Codes, particularly Parts 4, 5, and 9.
  • Knowledge and interest in Passive House building envelope design strategies are advantageous.
  • Prior experience with existing multifamily residential buildings is a plus.
  • Experience or coursework in energy modeling and audits.
  • Proficient in software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, Excel, and structural analysis tools (SAP2000, RAM, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with individuals at all levels, including project stakeholders and clients.
  • Willingness to work at heights, including climbing ladders and operating on a swing stage.
