Position Summary:
  • In the role of Senior Building Envelope Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include building envelope design, energy modeling, and analysis, based in our Burnaby office.
  • This position may also involve elements of project delivery management, preparation of structural documentation, and oversight of construction administration.
  • You will ensure that all tasks align with our Company's values and culture.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage building envelope restoration projects from initial investigation to substantial completion.
  • Collaborate with technologists and other engineering team members to prepare engineering drawings and contract documents.
  • Review and analyze architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings.
  • Examine investigative reports thoroughly.
  • Conduct structural designs related to building envelope remediation.
  • Lead field reviews and engineering investigations (Envelope/Structural).
  • Manage energy modeling and energy audits for both new and existing buildings.
  • Draft necessary project-related correspondence.
  • Engage in client meetings and provide updates on project status.
  • Establish high technical standards and mentor junior staff to help them achieve their full potential while delivering high-quality outcomes.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural/Building Science or equivalent training.
  • Possession of an active P.Eng. designation from EGBC with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Building Envelope Consulting.
  • Experience in preparing tender packages, managing construction contracts, and conducting building envelope condition assessments.
  • Familiarity with BC Building Codes, particularly Parts 4, 5, and 9.
  • Knowledge and interest in Passive House building envelope design strategies are advantageous.
  • Prior experience with existing multifamily residential buildings is beneficial.
  • Experience or coursework in energy modeling and audits.
  • Proficient in using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, Excel, and structural analysis tools (SAP2000, RAM, etc.).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and clients at all levels.
  • Willingness to work at heights, including climbing ladders and operating on a swing stage.
