Facilities Evaluation Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

· Conduct thorough reviews of client documentation prior to and during the inspection process, including architectural drawings, maintenance records, and analytical studies.

· Execute visual assessments of building systems, utilizing professional expertise to ascertain the physical state of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, fire protection, and control systems. Inspections may also involve compliance checks against client standards and evaluations for accessibility, fire safety, energy efficiency, and sustainability.

· Collaborate with client facilities management personnel to gather critical insights regarding operational needs, investment strategies, and functional requirements.

· Utilize advanced mobile technology, including tablets equipped with cameras and data collection software, to accurately document findings during on-site evaluations, ensuring thorough justification for condition assessments.

· Prepare detailed cost estimates for facility replacements and necessary corrective actions, leveraging existing data libraries and conducting vendor research as needed.

· Record findings within Gordian's asset management and capital planning software, working in conjunction with fellow assessment team members.

· Ensure individual quality assurance by verifying the completeness and accuracy of findings in alignment with project objectives, preparing for reporting and presentation of results.

· Address client inquiries by providing additional insights and guidance related to assessment outcomes.

Essential Functions:

· Ability to navigate and inspect expansive facilities, including climbing ladders and stairs to evaluate various building systems, such as roofing.

· This role necessitates approximately 40% to 50% travel, both nationally and occasionally internationally, for periods of up to two weeks.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural/Civil Engineering, or Facility/Construction Management, or a combination of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in areas such as facility assessment, inspection, operations, design, construction, or property management.
  • Proficient in researching and applying pertinent building codes and standards for existing structures.
  • Experience in conducting quantity surveys and estimating replacement costs using industry-standard data sets.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate facility/system conditions and perform lifecycle analyses to identify deficiencies and associated costs.
  • Proficient with computers and mobile devices, including Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel) and various web browsers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain focus on critical tasks to achieve results.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Technical certifications, professional registrations, and government clearance are advantageous.

*Multi-disciplinary knowledge in architectural, structural, mechanical (HVAC and plumbing), electrical, and site utilities is a plus.
