Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Project Manager in the coordination and management of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pre-Construction:
    • Assist the Project Manager in preparing and submitting pre-construction documents, including the Pre-Construction Information Package (PIP) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
    • Help configure the project and establish document controls under the direction of the Project Manager.
    • Participate in pre-construction planning activities, including future planning, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), procurement, construction logistics, and project execution plans.
    • Support the submission of bid packages, recommend subcontractor bid packages to clients, and codify subcontractor contract costs.
    • Assist in obtaining all necessary local authority permits and approvals for construction.
    • Collaborate with the team to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support the successful execution of the project.
  • Construction:
    • Participate in price modifications, track information requests, examine and coordinate plan approvals, and coordinate information provided and required by subcontractors and suppliers.
    • Prepare and update the project budget, schedule, and cost report during construction under the direction of the Project Manager.
    • Assist in updating and maintaining the project's main weekly schedule and ensure the Superintendent's expectations are aligned.
    • Support establishing the billing schedule with the client and executing billing.
    • Support managing subcontractor contracts, including tracking notification periods and value increases.
    • Assist in managing payments, resolving disputes, and evaluating subcontractor performance.
    • Manage subcontractor submissions.
    • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
    • Provide assistance to the Project Manager to ensure the project's health, safety, and environmental standards meet legislative requirements and company policies.
  • Post-Construction:
    • Assist in resolving deficiencies and issues related to the warranty period.
    • Support the Project Manager in ensuring the project's total completion, including contractual and financial aspects.
    • Assist in project closure, including the final report, last purchase orders, and outstanding fees.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Eligible or holding E.I.T., P. Eng., CET, or PQS designations.
  • Experience in industrial construction.
  • 3 to 5 years of practical experience in construction management, including cost estimation and direct management of large industrial construction projects.
  • Proven leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Competence in areas of safety, labor management, project execution, cost control, quality, and administration.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contractual documents, drawings, specifications, work scopes, and project plans.
  • Experience with the Viewpoint project management system is considered an asset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to unpredictable activity requirements; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic commercial environment.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritize work to meet them.
  • Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, problem-solving, and high precision and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude.
