About the Role

Key Responsibilities:
Your daily tasks will include:
- Creating 3D models, comprehensive manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials for intricate electro-mechanical tooling.
- Assembling and testing custom equipment throughout the design process from initial prototype to final product.
- Assisting in the formulation of testing protocols for systems to ensure adherence to design specifications.
- Supporting the operation of the final tooling system at client facilities.
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the Engineering team.
- Conducting both classical hand calculations and analyses (including FEA) to validate systems and/or components against relevant codes & standards.
- Preparing clear and detailed design reports and technical specifications.
- Promoting innovation and new methodologies in the development of advanced technologies and nuclear systems.
- Collaborating globally within the Westinghouse Engineering framework alongside subject matter experts and nuclear specialists.
- Aiding in the resolution of challenges throughout the design, manufacturing, and testing phases of systems and/or components.
Qualifications:
Who you are:
- A degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited Canadian institution.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Extensive experience in conceptual design development, design reviews, and engineering change management processes.
- Experience in the design and construction of custom equipment, particularly robotics and electro-mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD systems.
- A solid understanding of manufacturing techniques, welding procedures, and associated inspection methods.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with comfort in leading meetings and delivering presentations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 to 6 years of relevant experience.
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards for the design of nuclear components and systems, including specialized tooling and remote handling equipment.
- Experience with software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, and ANSYS (FEA).
- Experience in interfacing with client representatives and overseeing vendor activities.
- Experience in designing ruggedized tooling for challenging environments.
