Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer Lead to join our Toronto team. This position will involve working on various projects in the rail sector, including high-speed, metro, LRT, and streetcar projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work directly with the Senior Management team in Toronto, exercising independence and minimal supervision.
  • Take design projects from start to finish, applying a high level of technical, professional engineering, and consulting expertise.
  • Familiarize yourself with National, Provincial, and Municipal Codes and Standards, ensuring design documents meet established project criteria and applicable standards.
  • Experience in design and hydraulic calculation of fire protection systems, including sprinkler, standpipe, pre-action, and clean agent suppression.
  • Participate in client management, business development, and proposal preparation activities.
  • Prepare engineering design, including calculations, specifications, and drawings for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and fuel systems.
  • Manage certain aspects of project financial review, maintaining budget, and meeting delivery milestones.
  • Review project construction and manage construction engineering correspondence.
  • Peer review junior engineers' work.
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing team of junior staff.
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 7-9 years of related experience in a mechanical consulting engineering environment.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario (P. Eng.).
  • Rail experience is mandatory.
  • Experience in fire protection and fuel systems is mandatory.
  • LEED Accreditation and sustainable design experience are highly desirable qualifications.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Carrier Hourly Analysis Program (HAP) or Trane TRACE software, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) are required.
  • Proficiency with MEP Revit is highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a strong desire and ability to collaborate and problem-solve in an integrated team environment.
