Job Summary:

The RN-RPN Emergency Psychiatry Specialist will work in the Acute Behavioural Stabilization Unit (ABSU), providing nursing care to patients with acute psychiatric needs. This is a dynamic and fast-paced environment that requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to providing patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess, identify, plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing care required to assist patients in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise the plan of care for patients.
  • Provide individual and group teaching to patients and families, and make referrals to other identified resources as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients.
Requirements:
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives, or in Residential Care and Mental Health.
  • Two years' recent psychiatric nursing experience in a tertiary care emergency department and/or two years' recent acute psychiatric experience in a tertiary care facility or mental health facility.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to apply decision-making and analytical skills.
