Job Title: RN-RPN Emergency Psychiatry Specialist

Providence Health Care is seeking a skilled RN-RPN Emergency Psychiatry Specialist to join its Acute Behavioural Stabilization Unit (ABSU) team.

About the Role

The ABSU is a 24/7 unit that provides short-stay admissions and is staffed by an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. As a RN-RPN Emergency Psychiatry Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care required to assist patients in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans
  • Provide direct nursing interventions for crisis and life-threatening situations
  • Document patient information and progress
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care
  • Participate in nursing orientation and share clinical knowledge with other staff
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives
  • Two years' recent psychiatric nursing experience in a tertiary care emergency department
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of an interdisciplinary team
