The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for designing and reviewing buildings, underground infrastructure, and bridge structures, as well as temporary works required for their construction, providing site support during construction, and working directly with the contractor. Experience with shoring engineering on transportation-related projects is considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design of complex shoring and underpinning structures
  • Design of jacking, falsework, shoring, and roadway protection
  • Provide immediate engineering support to contractors in the field
  • Review of work on construction sites is required
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering preferred
  • 8+ years of relevant experience, with a professional engineering designation
  • Professional Engineer licensed to practice in the province of Ontario (PEO)
  • Professional Engineer licensed to practice in the province of Quebec (OIQ) is preferred
  • Experience in design of temporary structures and construction engineering
  • Familiarity with cut-and-cover structures, temporary shoring, utility relocation, construction staging analysis
  • Familiarity with MTO procedures
  • Experience in bridge design and/or construction engineering for bridges
  • Experience on site and working with contractors preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principles
  • Able to communicate ideas and recommendations in a clear manner, listen effectively, and adopt and integrate ideas from other team members, including clients and contractors
  • Ability to manage and deliver multiple projects on time
  • Ability to work on both small and large projects of varying durations
  • Ability to explain designs and work with others to develop the optimal design for the available resources
