Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong communication and organizational skills. As a Programs Administrator, you will be the first point of contact for clients coming into the Centre, providing first-level support and conducting need assessments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first-level support to clients, including answering questions and resolving issues
  • Conduct need assessments to determine client eligibility for programs and services
  • Screen program applications and provide general information to clients
  • Assist clients in exploring and taking advantage of ECE programs and services
  • Provide direct support to program areas as required
  • Support administrative and finance functions in the region
Requirements
  • Ability to gain and apply knowledge of Income Security Programs, including those administered by ECE and other GNWT Departments
  • Knowledge of Departmental programs and services, as well as other funding sources such as Employment Insurance (EI) and the Canada Child Benefit
  • Knowledge of community-based agencies and resources available to refer clients
  • Ability to acquire and utilize knowledge of financial systems and accounting practices, and file management systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including writing, empathetic listening, conflict resolution, and providing feedback
  • Computer skills, including familiarity with Windows-based programs, word processing, spreadsheets, and communications software
  • Decision-making, problem-solving, planning, time management, and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to exercise self-control in challenging situations
  • Information-seeking, teamwork, and cooperation skills
  • Client service skills, including valuing diversity and maintaining confidentiality
Education and Experience

A Certificate in Social Sciences or Business Administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience, is required. One year of experience in a customer service or administrative environment is also required.
