Oral Surgery Dental Assistant

The Dental Assistant plays a crucial role in the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department, operating under the guidance of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon and Health Services Manager. This position is essential for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of daily operations in a dynamic and high-pressure environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibilities of the Dental Assistant include:
- Assisting in surgical procedures to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and sterile environment in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Performing radiographic procedures, including the exposure and development of x-rays.
- Taking alginate impressions and conducting intra/extra oral photography for documentation and analysis.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care for patients undergoing outpatient oral surgery.

- Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program.
- Current registration as a Dental Assistant in Nova Scotia.
- A minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Dental Assistant.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset, with a preference for French.
This is a Casual Relief Position, offering flexibility in work hours while contributing to a vital healthcare service.
CompensationThe hourly wage for this position is $27.89, with potential eligibility for market adjustments based on periodic reviews.
