Position Overview

The Dental Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department, ensuring smooth daily operations under the guidance of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon and Health Services Manager. This position is vital in providing safe and effective care for patients undergoing outpatient oral surgery procedures.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Dental Assistant include:

  • Assisting in surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile and organized environment.
  • Following strict infection control protocols to ensure patient safety.
  • Performing radiographic imaging, including the exposure and development of x-rays.
  • Taking alginate impressions and conducting intra/extra oral photography for medical documentation.
  • Supporting the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
Qualifications

We invite candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program.
  • Current registration as a Dental Assistant in Nova Scotia.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Dental Assistant.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is an asset, with French being preferred.
Work Schedule

This is a Casual Relief Position.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this position is $27.89. This role is also eligible for periodic Market Adjustments.
