Position Overview

The Dental Assistant plays a crucial role in the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department, ensuring smooth daily operations under the guidance of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon and Health Services Manager. This position is vital in providing safe and effective care for patients undergoing outpatient oral procedures.

Key Responsibilities

The Dental Assistant's duties encompass:

  • Assisting in surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Ensuring compliance with infection control protocols.
  • Managing the organization and cleanliness of the surgical area.
  • Performing radiographic imaging and developing x-rays.
  • Taking alginate impressions and conducting intra/extra oral photography for documentation and analysis.
Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • A diploma from an accredited Dental Assistant program.
  • Registration as a Dental Assistant in Nova Scotia.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Dental Assistant.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is an asset, with a preference for French.
Work Environment

This is a Casual Relief position, offering flexibility in work hours while providing essential support in a dynamic healthcare setting.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this position is $27.89, with eligibility for periodic market adjustments.
