About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team at Schlegel Villages. As an RPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents, promoting their physical, emotional, and social well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and adhere to the standards of practice.
  • Deliver safe administration of medication and treatments, prioritizing accuracy and quality.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to ensure resident-centered care.
  • Provide emotional support and advocacy for residents, promoting their autonomy and dignity.
  • Collaborate with the Neighbourhood Physician during weekly rounds, updating care plans and directions accordingly.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals, ensuring seamless care transitions.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the enhancement of resident care and services.

Requirements:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Existing Heart Save Level of CPR.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, manage stress, and maintain a calm demeanor.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on empathy and compassion.
  • Proficient computer skills, with experience in updating care plans in a current system.
  • Understanding of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, and regulations applicable to the Long-Term Care sector.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MDS credentials.
  • Experience working with people living with Dementia.
  • Knowledge of the palliative assessments scale.
  • Comfortable supporting residents and their families during end-of-life care.
