Position Overview:

The Clinical Nurse (RN)/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) in Home Care Services, Personal Care Home, and/or Transitional Care is responsible for implementing the nursing process to assist clients, residents, and patients in achieving and sustaining their highest level of health through a person-centered approach. This role encompasses various settings including acute care, transitional care, personal care homes, primary health care, public health, and home care.

The RN/RPN will operate within their full scope of practice, engage in continuous education, and uphold competencies in line with the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud, as well as the Professional Standards of Practice, and the guidelines set forth by the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba and the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize independent judgment and initiative to prioritize tasks and determine appropriate work methods.
  • Function in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Southern Health-Santé Sud.
  • Maintain current registration with the relevant nursing colleges and adhere to the scope of practice as defined by the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • Ensure certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS), and Trauma Nursing Care Course (TNCC).
  • Foster a collaborative interdisciplinary environment that enhances service quality and staff empowerment.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships while demonstrating effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Exhibit strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Apply analytical and inquisitive approaches to problem-solving and contribute to program improvements.
  • Demonstrate leadership and decision-making capabilities.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills and adaptability to meet the demands of the role.
  • Respect and promote cultural diversity within the community.
  • Maintain confidentiality across various mediums.
  • Demonstrate a reliable work and attendance record.
