Position Overview:

The Clinical Nurse (RN)/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) specializing in Home Care Services, Personal Care Homes, and Transitional Care employs the nursing process to assist clients, residents, and patients in achieving and sustaining their highest level of health through a client-centered approach. This role encompasses acute care, transitional care, personal care homes, primary health care, public health, and home care.

The RN/RPN operates within the full scope of practice, engages in continuous education, and maintains competencies aligned with the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud, the Professional Standards of Practice, and the ethical guidelines set forth by the relevant regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize independent judgment and initiative to prioritize tasks and determine appropriate work methods.
  • Adhere to the mission, vision, and values of Southern Health-Santé Sud while executing duties.
  • Maintain current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba/College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses, ensuring compliance with the Regulated Health Professions Act.
  • Achieve and uphold certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS), and Trauma Nursing Care Course (TNCC).
  • Foster a collaborative interdisciplinary environment that promotes quality service and staff empowerment.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, both oral and written, and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving abilities and contribute to program improvements.
  • Respect and promote cultural diversity within the community.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role.

Employment Conditions:

  • Complete and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, and relevant registry checks.
  • Immunization is mandatory for all healthcare workers in accordance with Southern Health-Santé Sud policy.

Note: This position may be subject to early termination of the maternity/parental leave of absence, with a minimum notice period required.
