Position Overview
As a Registered Practical Nurse within our Nursing Resource Team, you will play a crucial role in a cooperative, interdisciplinary environment aimed at providing comprehensive services and programs to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care to patients dealing with addictions and various mental health conditions
- Adapt to changing patient care requirements in accordance with CNO standards, RNAO Best Practice Guidelines, and the specific philosophies of our programs
- Manage patient assignments and adhere to established care plans
- Administer both psychiatric and non-psychiatric medications and treatments
- Conduct necessary clinical assessments upon admission and at various intervals, including Mental Status Exams
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and engage with individual team members as needed
- Serve as a preceptor, mentor, coach, or resource nurse when appropriate
- Participate in clinical discussions, team meetings, and patient/family conferences
- Accept dynamic work assignments across Elective Psychiatry Services as directed by a supervisor or delegate
- Current registration as an RPN with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing
- Up to 6 months of experience in general nursing practice preferred
- Current CPR certification
- Familiarity with the Mental Health Act (MHA), documentation standards (CNO), and privacy legislation (PHIPPA)
- Ability to effectively manage crisis situations and engage with acutely ill patients
- Strong interpersonal skills and a respectful communication style with patients, families, and colleagues
- Previous training in mental health nursing, boundaries, suicide awareness, and medication administration is advantageous
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Proficient computer skills and an eagerness to learn new systems
- Flexibility regarding work schedules
- Knowledge of CBT/DBT and experience with group facilitation is a plus
