Role Summary


As a Registered Nurse within our Nursing Resource Team, you will play a vital role in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment focused on providing comprehensive services and programs to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care to individuals with addiction issues and various mental health conditions
  • Adapt to changing patient care requirements in accordance with CNO standards, RNAO Best Practice Guidelines, and the specific philosophies of our programs
  • Administer both psychiatric and non-psychiatric medications and treatments
  • Initiate necessary clinical assessments upon admission and at various intervals
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and engage with individual team members as necessary
  • Serve as a preceptor, mentor, coach, or resource nurse as needed
  • Participate in clinical discussions, team meetings, and patient/family conferences
  • Accept dynamic work assignments across the Health Centre as directed by supervisors
Qualifications

  • Must be a licensed Registered Nurse with the CNO, in good standing
  • BScN is preferred
  • CPMHN (C) certification is an asset
  • Experience with patients facing a wide range of addiction and psychiatric challenges is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a respectful communication style with patients, families, and colleagues
  • Familiarity with the Mental Health Act and community mental health resources
  • BCLS Level C for Healthcare Providers or equivalent certification
  • Experience in group facilitation is beneficial
  • Sound clinical judgment based on current best practices and patient-centered care
  • Understanding of the Stages of Change Model, Mental Status Exam, and Crisis Management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Word and Outlook
  • Flexibility regarding work schedules
  • Additional assets include:
  • Knowledge of CBT/DBT
  • Understanding of the addicted patient population, treatment methodologies, and medications
  • Previous training in boundaries and suicide awareness
  • Experience with electronic medical records (eMR)
