Relief Power Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Power Engineer to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a Relief Power Engineer, you will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining a Central Heating Plant (CHP) and all its auxiliary equipment at the Victoria General Hospital.
Under the direction of the Chief Power Engineer, you will monitor the steam boilers and distribution system, central refrigeration plants, and all ventilation systems through the building energy management system. This position requires a strong understanding of high-pressure plant operations and associated equipment.
You will be responsible for receiving and taking appropriate action for resolution of urgent building-related calls during silent hours, including holidays and weekends. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a strong attention to detail.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:
- Interprovincial Second Class Power Engineer License
- Two years' experience in a high-pressure plant (steam) and associated equipment
- Travel to other sites may be required; valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are required
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
This is a permanent, full-time position with a 90-hour bi-weekly schedule. The hourly rate is $35.28.
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
This position is currently eligible for a Market Adjustment of approximately $192.31 biweekly. Eligibility for a Market Adjustment is reviewed periodically.
