Key Responsibilities
  • Liquidity Management and Reporting: Lead the management of critical processes, including derivative collateral, pledging compliance, credit derivative usage, repo/reverse repo/securities lending program usage, and global cash management.
  • Investment Strategy and Optimization: Provide visionary strategic guidance to assist in investment strategy reviews across Sun Life's business groups, ensuring alignment with SLC's cutting-edge capabilities and resources.
  • Surplus and General Portfolio Management: Coordinate discussions and ensure seamless alignment on centralized surplus investment strategies, driving consistency in decision-making and actions across Sun Life's legal entities.
  • Board and Senior Management Reporting and Planning: Lead the quarterly process for reporting SLC investment performance to the Governance, Investment and Sustainability Committee (GISC), and lead the annual business and strategic planning activities related to asset supply.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in insurance investment strategy or a related field, with a deep understanding of modern portfolio theory, asset pricing, and risk management.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Extensive knowledge of broad asset classes and a working knowledge of Sun Life's liability profiles.
  • Proficiency in utilizing financial tools and software, such as Bloomberg, BlackRock Aladdin, or Morningstar Direct.
