About the Opportunity

Wood Street Centre Residential Treatment provides a comprehensive range of services to children and youth facing complex behavioral and emotional challenges. Our interdisciplinary team, including youth workers, social workers, teachers, registered nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, behavioral interventionists, and program managers, works collaboratively to deliver stabilization, assessment, and treatment.

As a member of this dedicated team, the Psychologist plays a vital role in assessing, diagnosing, and developing individualized care plans for each youth. Reporting to the Manager, Support Services and Community Programs, Northern Zone Mental Health & Addictions, you will contribute your expertise to ensure the well-being and growth of these young individuals.

About You

  • You possess a recognized Master's degree in Clinical Psychology or School Psychology.
  • You are registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners (NSBEP) and maintain good standing.
  • You have a minimum of two years of relevant experience, demonstrating a strong background in mental health and an understanding of childhood trauma's impact.
  • Your expertise extends to assessing and treating youth with significant emotional and behavioral disorders.
  • You excel at collaborating with children, adolescents, families, groups, community representatives, and agencies.
  • You are adept at employing a trauma-informed lens in therapeutic interventions.
  • Experience utilizing the ARC model in providing therapeutic interventions is considered an asset.
  • You possess strong assessment skills and comfort with diagnostics using DSM5 criteria.
  • Competency in psychoeducational assessment is an asset.
  • Excellent documentation/report writing skills are essential.
  • You can establish models of care based on programming needs, evaluate progress, and adapt therapy accordingly.
  • Strong CBT and DBT skills are required, including the ability to deliver DBT skills groups and CBT groups for anxiety and depression.
  • You thrive working both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • You provide and utilize clinical supervision and support effectively.
  • Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.

Hours

  • Permanent full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Incentives

$ hourly

Successful candidates may also be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
