Nova Scotia Health is seeking a skilled Psychologist to join our team at the Wood Street Centre Residential Treatment. As a Psychologist, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team providing assessment, diagnosis, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized treatment plans for youth with complex behavioral and emotional challenges.

About the Opportunity

As a Psychologist at Wood Street Centre Residential Treatment, you will work with a diverse range of youth, including those with significant emotional and behavioral disorders. You will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and developing treatment plans that address the unique needs of each youth. Your expertise will be invaluable in helping our team provide high-quality care and support to our clients.

About You
  • Master's degree in Clinical Psychology or School Psychology
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners (NSBEP)
  • Minimum of two years relevant experience in mental health, with a strong background in childhood trauma
  • Experience in assessment and treatment of youth with significant emotional and behavioral disorders
  • Ability to work competently with children, adolescents, families, groups, community representatives, and agencies
  • Ability to employ a trauma-informed lens to therapeutic interventions
  • Experience with the ARC model in therapeutic interventions (asset)
  • Strong assessment skills and comfort with diagnostics using DSM5 criteria
  • Competency in psychoeducational assessment (asset)
  • Excellent documentation and report writing skills
  • Ability to establish models of care based on programming needs
  • Ability to evaluate progress and adapt therapy as required
  • Strong CBT and DBT skills, with ability to deliver DBT skills group and CBT groups for anxiety and depression
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to provide and utilize clinical supervision and support
  • Competencies in other languages (asset), with French preferred

  • Permanent full-time position, 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Competitive hourly rate: $49.05
  • Candidate Registered (step 4): $43.52
  • Masters Registered (steps 5-7): $49.05
