Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical and material properties characterization under ISO/ASTM standards, including ICP-OES, powder testing, metallography, chemical analysis, physical, and mechanical testing, and NDT.
  • Conduct testing in a laboratory setting while adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Write accurate test reports for all testing required in the laboratory.
  • Oversee the lab's consumables redundancy program to prevent downtime from shortages.
  • Support our activities to ensure successful audits concerning ISO17025 and NADCAP accreditations for Heat Treatment and Materials Testing.
  • Review monthly preventative maintenance plans and assist in repairing and documenting malfunctioning equipment.
  • Train Co-Op students on relative testing techniques.
  • Communicate with supervisors on day-to-day activities to meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Manage routine correspondence, multiple tasks, and diversified workloads.

Qualifications:

  • College technical degree in laboratory operations or relevant 3 years' experience in materials testing laboratory.
  • Demonstrated computer skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage routine correspondence, multiple tasks, and diversified workloads.
  • Solid laboratory experience with chemical and metal processing equipment and/or powder testing in an industrial environment is considered an asset.

Training and Technical Knowledge:

  • Good learning agility: The successful candidate should be able to quickly learn technical procedures and consistently follow them.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Awareness of ISO17025 and NADCAP accreditation requirements.
  • Knowledge of inventory organization.
  • Understanding of laboratory safety protocols and guidelines.
