Position Overview:

The Community Support Specialist plays a vital role in fostering service delivery and devising innovative strategies to engage with families and community systems. This position emphasizes the creation of a supportive and nurturing atmosphere for families, focusing on enhancing community ties, knowledge, skills, and overall family stability through a family-centered methodology.

The Community Support Specialist is tasked with assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of support services to guarantee positive outcomes for families. This role involves providing direct clinical and consultative services to individuals and families with a strong emphasis on community engagement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Degree from an accredited institution
  • Registration with the Manitoba College of Social Workers
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in social work
  • A valid Manitoba driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • Willingness to travel and adapt to flexible working hours as needed
  • Candidates must provide a satisfactory criminal record check, adult abuse registry check, and child abuse registry check
  • Experience working within Indigenous communities and cultures is advantageous
  • Familiarity with Indigenous culture and language is a plus
  • Understanding of the historical context of services for individuals with disabilities, as well as current trends and practices in their care and education
  • Training in Non-violent Crisis Intervention, CPR, and First Aid is beneficial
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset
