About the Role:

MacEwan University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Digital Platforms and Delivery to lead our IT operations and strategy. As a key member of our Information Services team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective provision of front-facing IT services and building a culture of service excellence within the department and the university as a whole.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the units that provide analysis and solutions for MacEwan's application portfolio, including ERP, LMS, CRM, web development, and multiple cloud-based solutions.
  • Provide digital processing capabilities and capacity through on-premise and off-premise services.
  • Establish and maintain the network backbone, including infrastructure to connect to the internet and end-point network devices.
  • Develop and deliver long-term strategic goals, vision, and standards for Digital Platforms & Delivery in conjunction with IT leadership, administrative and academic units, and other key stakeholders.
  • Oversee and ensure the development and maintenance of integrated digital solutions.
  • Create and oversee the maintenance of a rolling multi-year roadmap of long-term changes and improvements to each unit within Digital Platforms & Delivery, unifying the environment for cost optimization and consistency.
  • Contribute to the IT governance framework to guide Digital Platforms & Delivery decision-making, ensuring that projects and solutions adhere to best practices and guidelines and align with the overall technology and institutional strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Enterprise Architecture to research emerging technologies that support Platform Services to increase cost-effectiveness and flexibility.
  • Establish measures of success for implementation of Digital Platforms & Delivery initiatives and oversee ongoing monitoring of initiatives in progress as well as those which have been implemented.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the Digital Platforms & Delivery team and the broader organization.
  • Identify opportunities and develop business case justifications for spending and initiatives, including identification of risks and cost/benefit analyses.
  • In collaboration with the Business Operations unit, negotiate contracts with and manage vendors.
  • Oversee the development and execution of change management strategies and plans, with measurable objectives, in support of institutional initiatives; anticipate potential points of resistance in the implementation of institutional priorities and projects and proactively identify means to resolve associated issues or areas of concern.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in business, computing science or a related field.
  • Significant years of progressively responsible experience in IT, including managing a wide variety of development and operational roles.
  • Experience with relevant areas of information technology, including operations, application development and support, software as a solution (SaaS), network administration, cloud infrastructure, data centre management, and vendor management.
  • Ability to communicate a vision, motivate a team, and create a collaborative, innovative culture that stimulates creative thinking and a will to seek excellence.
  • Energetic and initiative-taking, with the ability to drive projects forward and achieve success.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to consider many sources of information and evaluate source material objectively and pragmatically.
