Opportunity Overview

The Director, Digital Platforms & Delivery, reporting to the AVP, Information Services and CIO, is tasked with overseeing the effective delivery of IT services that engage with users directly, while cultivating a culture of service excellence throughout the university. Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing and providing solutions for the university's application portfolio, including ERP, LMS, CRM, web development, and cloud-based solutions.
  • Facilitating digital processing capabilities through both internal and external services.
  • Maintaining the network infrastructure, ensuring robust connectivity.
Strategic Planning
  • Formulating long-term strategic goals and standards for Digital Platforms & Delivery in collaboration with IT leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensuring the development and maintenance of integrated digital solutions.
  • Creating a multi-year roadmap for enhancements and improvements across all units.
  • Contributing to IT governance frameworks to guide decision-making processes.
  • Researching emerging technologies to enhance service delivery.
  • Establishing success metrics for ongoing initiatives.
  • Fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Identifying opportunities for investment and developing business cases.
  • Negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships.
  • Implementing change management strategies to support institutional priorities.
Leadership and Management
  • Participating in the leadership team to enhance IT service operations.
  • Reviewing organizational design to align with service goals.
  • Leading and managing the Digital Platforms & Delivery team, including workload monitoring and issue resolution.
  • Recruiting, training, and developing staff to promote a positive team culture.
  • Maintaining a succession plan for key roles.
  • Managing operational costs effectively.
  • Overseeing employee relations and performance management.
  • Engaging with industry functions to stay informed on trends and best practices.
  • Planning and managing the annual budget for the department.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety policies.
Operational Excellence
  • Overseeing the design and delivery of strategic technology solutions.
  • Building an operational roadmap and prioritizing initiatives.
  • Managing key performance metrics.
  • Enhancing software development processes and tools.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure a seamless software development lifecycle.
  • Consulting on project alignment with Digital Platforms & Delivery objectives.
  • Ensuring security practices are integrated into processes.
  • Monitoring and reporting on performance indicators.
  • Implementing tools for efficient data center management.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Candidate Profile

Qualifications: A master's degree in business, computer science, or a related field is preferred, along with significant experience in IT management across various roles. Experience in a unionized environment is beneficial.
