This role plays a vital part in supporting the academic community by fostering information literacy, promoting library resources, and collaborating with faculty across diverse disciplines.



Responsibilities: Academic Engagement & Support
  • Build strong relationships with faculty members from various departments to understand their research needs and effectively promote relevant library services and collections.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive online instructional materials that guide students in navigating library resources and conducting effective research.
  • Actively participate in university-wide planning initiatives and projects, contributing your expertise to enhance the overall learning environment.
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify user requirements and inform the development of tailored information resources and services.
  • Provide expert research consultations and library instruction sessions to students and faculty, empowering them with the skills to conduct successful research endeavors.
  • Offer comprehensive research support, assisting users in locating relevant materials, understanding complex concepts, and effectively utilizing library databases and tools.
  • Collaborate closely with other librarians to provide seamless support for interdisciplinary research projects and ensure a cohesive approach to collection development.

Student Success & Library Outreach
  • Ensure a strong library presence at campus orientations and open houses, introducing students to the vast resources available to them.
  • Develop and coordinate engaging student outreach events that promote library services, foster a sense of community, and encourage active participation.
  • Provide guidance and training to library technicians or student assistants involved in outreach initiatives, ensuring consistent messaging and effective program delivery.

General Responsibilities & Professional Development
  • Engage in regular consultations and knowledge sharing with library colleagues, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Actively participate in the planning, assessment, and promotion of library resources, ensuring they remain relevant and responsive to user needs.
  • Contribute to library policies, strategic initiatives, and departmental committees, shaping the future direction of the library.
  • Commit to continuous professional growth by attending conferences, workshops, and online courses, staying abreast of emerging trends in librarianship.
  • Serve on relevant university committees, leveraging your expertise to contribute to the broader academic community.
