Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Faith and Action at Acslhe plays a vital role in addressing the spiritual needs of a diverse college community through innovative programs, empowering student leaders, and effectively communicating the Office of Faith and Action's mission on and off campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation
    • Develop and execute marketing and communication strategies to promote the Office of Faith and Action's events and initiatives through various channels, including print materials and video posts.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Faith and Action to plan and participate in ceremonies and celebrations, such as Opening Convocation and Commencement.
  • Community Engagement and Partnerships
    • Work with the Director, Catholic campus minister, student organizations, and local partners to organize faith and belief engagement opportunities, including Feed the Need and NILA Interfaith Prayer Services.
    • Develop a spiritual growth program for student athletes in cooperation with athletics staff and student leaders.
  • Student Support and Guidance
    • Maintain and advise student groups and opportunities that respond to student needs, focusing on leadership development and empowerment.
    • Provide individual care and spiritual guidance for students, referring them to relevant resources as needed.
  • Service Opportunities and Trips
    • Coordinate faith-based service opportunities and trips, utilizing campus resources and arranging transportation as necessary.
    • Develop opportunities for students to engage in summer internships, ministry teams, and service opportunities.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Participate in staff meetings, Student Affairs meetings, and annual planning events.
Requirements
  • Christian Morality and Ecumenical Spirit
    • Exemplify the highest standards of Christian morality as defined in the Social Principles of the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church and the College's core values.
    • Demonstrate an ecumenical and interfaith spirit, working effectively in a Christian work setting with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills
    • Understand the College's organization and operation, consistently demonstrating outstanding interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Work effectively as a member of a small staff, prioritizing tasks and collaborating with colleagues to achieve shared goals.
    • Possess strong interpersonal skills, good listening skills, and astute observational skills.
    • Communicate effectively in the English language, both in writing and oral presentations, reflecting positively on the College.
  • Education and Experience
    • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent life experience is required. Ordination or certification for ministry is preferred.
    • Prior experience as a campus ministry leader is highly valued.
  • Licenses and Certifications
    • A valid driver's license is required.
