The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Accountant to join our team. As a Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for costing and general accounting duties. You will work closely with the Director of Finance to provide accurate and timely financial information to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete all scheduled month-end tasks as assigned.
  • Prepare month-end and ad hoc journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Prepare reports for Management team to provide information on: labour, shrink, standard costing and operations variances on a weekly or monthly basis.
  • Setting up all product codes in the system for sales, purchasing and inventory.
  • Determine product costing for all SKU's.
  • Assist the Assistant Controller with account and vendor reconciliations on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Provide support to the Assistant Controller in the preparation and maintenance of capital asset records and capital expenditure reporting for Management.
  • Cross-train in order to provide back-up duties for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables when required.
  • Assist with the team with the year-end audit and any other audit/tax return requirements.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong costing experience and ability to collaborate with departments across the organization.
  • Strong data management skills and ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
  • Working towards CPA designation or equivalent.
