About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team at UNIFOR CONSTRUCTION INC. as a Construction Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all construction projects are completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare construction layouts in accordance with building codes, using precision measuring tools to ensure accuracy.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join various materials, including wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials, to create high-quality construction components.
  • Develop and submit tenders and quotations for construction projects, taking into account factors such as materials, labor, and timelines.
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems to create a solid and secure structure.
  • Install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware to ensure a smooth and functional finish.
  • Schedule and coordinate work on construction sites, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and within budget.
  • Conduct site surveys and level checks to ensure that the construction site is safe and secure.
  • Train and supervise apprentices to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Estimate costs and materials for construction projects, taking into account factors such as labor, materials, and timelines.
  • Operate computer-aided design (CADD) and other software systems to create detailed designs and plans for construction projects.
  • Maintain, repair, and renovate residential and commercial properties, including wooden structures in various settings, such as mills, mines, hospitals, and industrial plants.
