Position Overview

The Director of Development will report directly to the Managing Director and will work closely with the Director of Construction. This pivotal role involves the strategic planning and execution of initiatives aimed at identifying and securing prime properties for development and zoning purposes. The successful candidate will be instrumental in fostering relationships with municipal authorities, prospective tenants, investors, and other stakeholders essential for project success. Responsibilities include negotiating and managing real estate transactions, conducting financial analyses, and presenting findings to executive leadership and community organizations. The Director will also oversee the development of site and building plans, interpret legal documents, guide legal counsel, and ensure compliance with all regulatory approvals, including development permits and zoning amendments.

Key Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in property development, zoning, and contract management.
  • Post-secondary education in Business or a related field is preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate relationships effectively.
  • Resourceful and innovative thinker with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficient negotiation and mediation capabilities.
  • High integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Adaptability to manage competing priorities.
  • Driven to achieve deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe applications.

Compensation Details

The salary range for this position is CA$150,000 to CA$200,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
