Job Description

Providence Health Care is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Leader/Nurse Educator to join our team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of a designated nursing unit or service, supervising staff, and providing clinical support to nursing staff and patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the assigned unit or service, including supervising staff, monitoring work assignments, and providing critical input on employee performance.
  • Act as a clinical resource to nursing staff, students, and other members of the interdisciplinary team, providing guidance on clinical practice issues and troubleshooting concerns.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs for nursing staff and patients, including coaching staff in clinical nursing skills and behaviors.
  • Provide formal education to other nurses and advise on nursing practice, assessing learning needs and developing proposals for new programs.
  • Participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of hospital-wide educational programs, reviewing policies, procedures, and reference materials for nursing staff and making recommendations for changes.
  • Provide clinical consultation to internal and external healthcare professionals in the area of expertise, developing and implementing patient education programs and leading group patient/family sessions.
  • Perform direct nursing care, including physical assessment and administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient progress and adjusting the plan of care to ensure patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant, with qualifications required of staff nurse in clinical area, plus three years of recent related experience in clinical specialty, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to coach and supervise, demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service, and ability to match skills of staff with clinical needs.
  • Ability to identify learning needs and develop educational programs, provide and/or develop resource materials, including educational materials, and demonstrate knowledge of adult education principles.
  • Ability to teach and lead groups, deal with and promote change, role model conflict resolution strategies, work as a member of an interdisciplinary team, apply decision-making and analytical skills, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and organize and prioritize work independently.
Vaccination Requirement

As per the current Public Health Orders, all employees working for Providence Health Care must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
