POSITION SUMMARY

The Cleaner is accountable for delivering cleaning and related services for designated facilities under the general supervision of the Team Leader.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Executes responsibilities to fulfill Client/Tenant expectations and identifies cleaning deficiencies to the Team Leader for inclusion in the cleaning schedule.
  • Primary tasks include washing, dusting, emptying waste and recycling bins, operating cleaning machinery, changing light bulbs, and snow removal.
  • Secures assigned facilities after hours by locking doors, closing windows, turning lights on/off as necessary, and resetting security systems as required.
  • Ensures adherence to corporate and legislative policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines concerning environmental, health and safety, and fire protection.
  • Represents BGIS in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction while maintaining positive relationships.
  • May be required to work shifts, be on-call/standby, and respond to emergency call-outs as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.

JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE: One year or less.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Requires a minimum of one year of experience in industrial/commercial cleaning operations.
  • Self-motivated, eager to learn, and capable of working independently.
  • Team-oriented.
  • Strong verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude towards all aspects of Environment, Health, and Safety.
  • Familiarity with national and industry codes and standards such as WHMIS.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • Must meet security clearance requirements, where applicable.
