POSITION SUMMARY

The Cleaner is accountable for delivering cleaning and related services for designated facilities under the general supervision of the Team Leader.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Executes responsibilities to meet client and tenant expectations, identifying cleaning deficiencies for the Team Leader to incorporate into the cleaning program.
  • Primary tasks include washing, dusting, emptying waste and recycling bins, operating cleaning machinery, changing light bulbs, and shoveling snow.
  • Secures assigned facilities after hours by locking doors, closing windows, turning lights on/off as necessary, and resetting security systems as required.
  • Ensures adherence to corporate and legislative policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines concerning environmental, health and safety, and fire protection.
  • Represents BGIS in promoting tenant and customer satisfaction while maintaining positive relationships.
  • May be required to work shifts, be on-call, or respond to emergency situations as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.

JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE: One year or less in a similar role.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Minimum of one year experience in industrial or commercial cleaning operations.
  • Self-motivated, eager to learn, and capable of working independently.
  • Strong team player.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude towards all aspects of Environment, Health, and Safety.
  • Familiarity with national and industry codes and standards, such as WHMIS.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • Must meet security clearance requirements, where applicable.
