The Security Services team at Winnipeg Regional Health Authority operates within a recovery-oriented framework, emphasizing the importance of fostering positive relationships with patients, staff, and the community.
Our facility is a comprehensive 24-hour care center dedicated to providing specialized inpatient mental health and rehabilitation services for individuals with complex needs.
We offer a range of services including Acute, Geriatric, Rehabilitation, Forensic, and Acquired Brain Injury care, all delivered in a supportive campus environment.
As a member of our security team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of approximately 700 staff members, numerous patients, their families, and visitors.
This role requires the ability to effectively manage various situations and engage with a diverse group of individuals, including employees, patients, and management.
Weekend and holiday shifts are part of the responsibilities associated with this position.
The security officer will be supervised directly by the Security Services Manager and the Security Shift Supervisor, who will provide guidance on workload, attendance, and training opportunities.
Preferred qualifications include prior experience in security roles, particularly in environments involving challenging behaviors, as well as familiarity with security technologies such as CCTV, radios, and access control systems.
A diploma from an accredited institution in Security Officer Training, or equivalent experience in law enforcement or military service, is required.
Applicants must hold a valid Class 5 driver's license and a Manitoba Security Guard License, or any future licensing requirements set forth by Manitoba Justice.
Certification through recognized standards is essential, along with a clear Adult Abuse Registry Check.
Strong oral and written communication skills in English, as well as excellent interpersonal and teamwork abilities, are necessary for success in this role.
All candidates must undergo a satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, as well as Child and Adult Abuse Registry Checks as part of the employment conditions.
