Position Overview

The Security Services team at Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is dedicated to fostering a secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety of all individuals within the facility, which operates around the clock to provide essential mental health and rehabilitation services.

Our facility accommodates a diverse range of specialized programs, including Acute, Geriatric, Rehabilitation, Forensic, and Acquired Brain Injury. The Security Officer will play a vital role in maintaining a safe atmosphere conducive to patient recovery and community reintegration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and security of approximately 700 staff members and 252 patients.
  • Engage with employees, patients, and visitors in a professional manner.
  • Respond to various situations with a calm and respectful approach.
  • Collaborate with treatment teams and patient service coordinators.
  • Work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in security is preferred.
  • Familiarity with security technologies such as CCTV and access control systems.
  • Experience in crisis management and emergency response.
  • Healthcare experience is an asset.

Education and Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of a recognized Security Officer Training program or relevant experience in law enforcement or military service.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and Manitoba Security Guard License are mandatory.
  • Must pass a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
