The Dr. John Archer Library and Archives is seeking a dedicated professional to assume the role of Associate Dean (Academic). Role Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Dean of University Libraries and Archives, the Associate Dean (Academic) will be instrumental in shaping and executing user services, research initiatives, and collection strategies. This role emphasizes leadership in enhancing user-centric services and experiences, while also contributing to the library's financial planning, strategic objectives, and collection development. Establishing and nurturing partnerships with external entities and stakeholders is a vital component of this position.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Formulating priorities and action plans that are in line with the library's strategic goals
  • Leading initiatives to improve user-focused services that align with university objectives
  • Addressing challenges and conflicts, promoting ongoing improvement, and responding to user insights
  • Collaborating with other academic departments to ensure synergy with university strategies

Qualifications

Applicants should possess:
  • A Master's degree in information/library science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent
  • Experience in management within an academic or research library environment
  • Proven leadership in formulating library policies and achieving strategic objectives
  • Expertise in public service delivery, collection management, or educational support
  • Awareness of trends in library services, emerging technologies, and academic collaborations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Experience working with Indigenous communities or international student populations
